Tag der Landlosen in Basel
Landloses Medienkollektiv

Its proper name is the 9th Conference of the Parties (COP 9) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) adopted during the "Earth Summit" in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.

GM Watch: 25 June 2006 - Illegal GM crops in Brazil and China
GM Watch

Between 16-18k hectares of cotton across several Brazilian states has been quarantined because illegal GM cotton seeds have been used, and this illegal GM cotton is set to be destroyed; The South China Morning Post reported a was clear collusion between GM scientists and a commercial company to sell Chinese farmers GM grain without informing them either that the seeds were genetically engineered or that it was illegal to plant them; A report on GM was commissioned from the county of Santa Cruz's, in California, and they concluded that 1. State and federal laws provide inadequate oversight of GM food and crops, 2. Lack of safety testing leaves a dangerous void in understanding of the long-term health effects of GM food, 3. Farmers worldwide have reported their crops being tainted by stray GM pollen
