Sacramento solidarity Rally in Salem
A rally in Salem on June 24, 2003 at 11:30 am will be held in solidarity with the World Trade Organization (WTO) protests in Sacramento. The purpose of the Salem rally, “Sacramento Solidarity Action,” organized by the June 24 Coalition, is to call attention to Oregon's reduced funding of education, health, and social services and to tie that into the protest against globalization and the WTO that will be going on in Sacramento at that time.
Victory in Sacramento
After the violent and unprovoked attacks on passive protesters outside the IMAX -- intended simply to clear us from the delegates' view -- about 60 of us regrouped on 11th and J and held a circle to decide what to do. We eventually decided to march in celebration (at peak around 120) down the streets past 12th and J back to the welcome center. Whose streets? Whose earth? Ours!

"I'm gonna baseline tomorrow, so i'm stoked but i gotta talk with kitten snake about the mobilization center, there need to be a facilitator to handle intermediary communication via all the spokescouncils, but the stack take forever and the quadrant formations take place at 11:00 a.m...."
I didn't understand half of what was uttered. A weird moment, to speak the same language as another, yet being unable to understand what they're saying. I've spent the last two days pondering the issues that underline my frustration, a chicano in a largely white movement.
I've felt anger many times during these past few days, feeling as if the movement has been hijacked by a cliquish element that only speats it's own language, unable to even walk down a neigborhood street alone and dialogue with common people in general, and in particular people of color.
Update from Community Garden lock-down, from SF-IMC reporter
The lockdown in the Community Garden is surrounding an apricot tree; a SF IMC reporter has handed a cell-phone to one of the people locked down. "I'm happy to be here reclaiming this space. I';ve watched this space get abused by [developers]. This garden is the second highest source of oxygen producing site downtown. The City must save this space as the area is in a deficit regarding air quality... This garden belongs to the people,
