Langzamerhand wordt duidelijk dat allerminst duidelijk is wat er nu eigenlijk bereikt is tijdens MOP3. Er ligt een akkoord, dat er tegen 2012 wellicht een beslissing genomen gaat worden over ´contains´ of ´may contain´. Mexico heeft daar echter bij weten te bedingen, dat ladingen met ´preserved identity´ NIET geetiketteerd zullen hoeven worden.

Bei den Verhandlungen um die Identifizierungspflichten von Staaten bei dem Export von Nahrungs- und Futtermittel mit gentechnisch veraenderten Organismen hat die Delegation von Mexiko im Abschlussplenum einen Eklat hervorgerufen. Obwohl die Vorsitzende der Arbeitsgruppe, die norwegische Delegierte Birthe Ivars, die Sitzung mit der stolzen Ankuendigung eroeffnete, dass sie eine Einigung praesentieren koenne, wie in Zukunft mit der Kennzeichnung gentechnisch veraenderter Organismen bei Nahrungsmittel zu verfahren sei, meldete sich der Delegierte von Mexiko zu Wort und erklaerte, dass Mexiko dem Text doch nicht mehr zustimmen koenne.

Hoje de manhã a Via Campesina realizou ato na Av. João Leopoldo Jacomel, em frente ao ExpoCenter. O movimento exige que a conferencia da ONU defina rotulagem JÁ no transporte de cargas transgênicas.
Na manhã de hoje (16/03) o espaço do Fórum Global da Sociedade Civil sofreu intervenção da administração do Expotrade (local aonde se realiza o Fórum e a MOP3COP8). A feira de produtos orgânicos - localizada no Fórum - foi impedida de comercializar lanches e refeições, sob o argumento da venda de alimentos não estar no contrato e depois sob alegação de não cumprimento das exigências da vigilãncia sanitária. Até o fim da tarde os expositores não foram informados quais os requisitos necessários para recomeçar a venda.
