Portland Anti-Capitalist Action is preparing for Seattle and Sacramento demos
09-05-2003

Portland Anti Capitalist Action (pdxaca@ziplip.com ) is talking with people and coordinating space to hold at least two meetings regarding the upcoming demonstrations in Seattle and Sacramento. We are primarily doing this to inform people about the organizing efforts going on in both towns, and to coordinate ride shares to these demos.

FROM SACRAMENTO: The reasons for shutting down the WTO and putting an end to neoliberalism are far too many to name here. So much suffering around the world has already been caused by neoliberalism, now they are trying to add even more through their agricultural agenda, and their forcing of the biotech menace upon the world. Concerned activists from northern California and around the world will gather in the streets on Sacramento and tell the biotech industry and the WTO to go to hell.

The day after the invasion of Iraq started activists shut down San Francisco. We are calling on individuals and affinity groups to stop the invasion of our food supply with a militant shut down of Sacramento for 3 days. There will be spokescouncil meetings every night from June 16th, through June 26th. Come with a plan of action and be ready for a capitalist-smashing good time. [Ed. note:".......We are a coalition of anti-authoritarian anti-capitalist individuals and affinity groups from northern california, including sacramento, organizing around the meeting.] If you want more information or to get involved email: silr@jps.net or call (916)-456-9435 Web site: biodevastation2003. GM Trial Destroyed
08-05-2003

GM crops decontaminated Earth Liberation Front managed to disable one of the last midlands GM farm scale trials of Genetically Modified crops.
After several farmers have pulled out of the GM trials, this is one of the last things needed by Aventis, the biotech company dependent on Bayer that benefits from life manipulation.

The group had made various incursions since December 2002. They maintain that GM food farmers are "locked into impossibly tight contracts" and that companies promoting GM crops are simply attempting "to control the entire food production process from seed to plate". In January 2002, Canadian farmers sued Monsanto and Aventis over loss of income caused by GM contaminating their crops.

Although people overwhelmingly oppose the genetic modification of crops, production and use continue to expand for the benefit of corporations. Read a report by Corporate Watch.

Corona virus genetic engineering and the origin of SARS
Prof. Joe Cummins, 27-04-2003

None of the early reports have acknowledged the large body of reports on the genetic manipulation of Corona viruses in the laboratory nor have they considered the possibility that the unique virus arose as a laboratory accident or purposeful experiment. I have searched out a number of studies on the genetic manipulation of Corona viruses and describe a few such studies below.

June 23-25 Sacramento CA - Resist Corporate Domination Of The World's Food Supply
25-04-2003

From the open publishing newswire: The United States Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) and the US State Department have invited Ministers of Trade, Agriculture, and Health from 180 nations to a Ministerial Conference and Expo On Agricultural Science and Technology.

Agriculture is currently one of the most contentious issues inside the WTO where member countries can't reach an agreement, making the Sacramento Conference an important destination on the US government's pre-Cancun WTO itinerary. Sacramento is an equally important destination for anyone concerned about genetically engineered foods, the rights of small farmers, the environment and agricultural biotech companies controlling the world's food supply. It will take place in downtown Sacramento from June 23-25, 2003. Neither the Conference nor the Expo is open to the general public. In response to these closed discussions of our food supply, a broad coalition of community organizations from Northern California have come together to organize an alternative convention in the streets of Sacramento.
