Erase una vez que estos productos sólo eran cultivados por pequeños agricultores, hasta que los agrogigantes se dieron cuenta del creciente mercado potencial y les hicieron cosquillas los bolsillos.
Hoy, gracias a esto, hay anaqueles completos de productos orgánicos en los supermercados estadounidenses y europeos. Una victoria del consumidor, se diría. El mercado, sin embargo, es acaparado por las multinacionales. ¿Y eso qué tiene de malo? ¿Acaso los ecologistas no querían que este sector prosperara?
Para muchos, lo orgánico es más que la mera ausencia de pesticidas en los alimentos. La agricultura orgánica es una filosofía socio-ecologista, un proyecto socio-económico alternativo que ayuda directamente al pequeño agricultor y revitaliza a las comunidades rurales; y que debe crear alternativas al mercado global controlado por las grandes corporaciones
